How the day is laid out

The swim is held in a bay. The wetsuit call is made on race morning, against the temperature measured then.

The organiser publishes 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km on the bike and 21.1 km of running.

The swim uses a rolling start: athletes enter the water a few at a time. The water is usually around 17 °C at this time of year.

The bike course is hilly, with about 771 m of climbing.

The run course is rolling, with about 127 m of climbing.

Typical temperatures for the month run from 18 to 25 °C. The overall cut-off is 8 h 30 min.

The race was first held in 2017.

The same bay as the full distance, on the same day

The 1.9 km swim is one loop from Ribeira beach around the bay to the fortress at the Clube Naval, in the water used that day by the IRONMAN Portugal-Cascais. The organiser gives 17 to 19 °C in October; the course page lists 17 °C measured in 2023 and 18 °C in 2024 and 2025, below the 24.5 °C up to which IRONMAN allows wetsuits for age-group athletes.

T1 is on the Citadel platform, and the same area serves as T2. The bike is a single loop past Guincho beach, Malveira and the Serra de Sintra, towards the Estoril circuit. The run makes two loops from Cascais to Cabo Raso along the Guincho road, which the organiser calls challenging on a windy day.
