Full distance: very different courses
The 3 full-distance races are IRONMAN Lanzarote, IRONMAN Vitoria-Gasteiz, IRONMAN Calella-Barcelona.
Bike climbing runs from 750 m to 2550 m. The top of that range is IRONMAN Lanzarote, which also has the longest cut-off, 17 h. The shortest is 15 h 30 min.
Vitoria-Gasteiz is the only inland option, with a lake swim at 547 m. Calella and Lanzarote swim in the sea.
70.3: from April to October
The 4 IRONMAN 70.3 races are IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia, IRONMAN 70.3 Alcúdia-Mallorca, IRONMAN 70.3 Vitoria-Gasteiz, IRONMAN 70.3 Málaga.
Bike climbing goes from 250 m to 800 m, and the usual cut-off is 8 h 30 min. 3 of them swim in the Mediterranean; the Vitoria-Gasteiz 70.3 shares the lake and the date of the full distance.
Choosing by month
Spring. 3 races fall between April and May: Valencia, Alcúdia-Mallorca and Lanzarote. The water is at its coolest then, from 17 °C.

Average temperatures do not show a heatwave or a windy day. A July race inland and an island race in May can both turn hot on the run, so look at the range on each race page as well as the average.
