ironman.com announced in December 2025 that IRONMAN returns to St. Pölten in 2027, after more than 20 years of racing in the city. The 23 May 2027 date falls three weeks before IRONMAN Kärnten-Klagenfurt, and the organiser presents the race as a warm-up before a mid-season IRONMAN.

The swim uses two lakes. ironman.com rates the bike rolling, while its course page describes a hilly route through vineyards and along the river. The course page has no race-day water reading for 2024 to 2026, so the 19 °C shown is an average. On 29 October 2026, general registration was sold out.
