The swim starts on Santos Beach and finishes at De Bakke Beach, where athletes run about 75 m up the beach, a ramp and a staircase to transition. The bike is a single out-and-back to Uitkyk on the Herbertsdale road, rated hilly by ironman.com, with three aid stations. The run is three laps through the harbour, the old town and the Point coastal walkway, on road and path. The water was measured at 22 °C in 2023, 19 °C in 2024 and 20 °C in 2025. The town also hosts the full distance, IRONMAN South Africa, in April 2027.
