IRONMAN in Canada: which race to choose

10 races in Canada in the catalogue, 7 of them half distances. Bike climbing, water temperature and the month separate them.

Where the figures come from

The counts, climbing, water averages and cut-offs are read from the catalogue and recalculated whenever a race is updated. They come from the race pages of ironman.com, challengefamily.com, t100triathlon.com and the Barrelman site. The race-day water readings quoted come from the "Historical weather" table of the ironman.com course pages.

The Canada page lists every race in the country. For dates across the circuit, use the IRONMAN schedule; for the races across the border, the IRONMAN in the USA page.

What the averages leave out

The wetsuit decision rests on the temperature measured on race morning. Under the 2026 IRONMAN Competition Rules, age-group athletes may wear a wetsuit up to 24.5 °C and must wear one below 16 °C. The averages of the Canadian half distances, from 17 to 23 °C, all sit in the range where a wetsuit is allowed. Victoria's 2024 reading, 16 °C, was at the compulsory threshold. The wetsuit rules guide sets out every threshold.

On 26 October 2026, ironman.com showed IRONMAN 70.3 Muskoka, IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant and 5150 Mont-Tremblant sold out for 2027. Prices on the race pages are in Canadian dollars. At Barrelman, athletes without a Triathlon Ontario membership pay a one-day fee of C$12 on top. Registration is always done on the organiser's site.
