How the day is laid out

This is an extreme triathlon: the course is chosen for its terrain and its climbing, not for speed, and self-sufficiency and a support crew are part of the rules.

Weather, waves and an escorted finish

The organiser warns that October weather on Corfu is unpredictable and gives a race-day range of 0 to 32 °C. The swim starts from the Queen's jetty at Mon Repos and follows the coast past the Old Fortress, where currents and constant waves make it demanding. Transition 1 is inside the fortress.

The bike follows almost the whole coastline and enters villages on narrow streets; the steepest climb, at Prinillas around km 90, reaches 8 %. The run starts at Kastellanoi Mesis and crosses sandy beaches and rocks, with climbs up to 15 % and descents up to 32 %. From Giannades, at km 22, a supporter runs the last 18 km with the athlete, up to Angelokastro.
